A couple of months ago we realized that our time in California (and the USA) is slowly running out. Most probably we'll only be here until early December, when we'll be moving back to Pretoria. Elsa suggested we make a list of things that we still want to see and do while we are here. Our bucket list started with all of 16 items, ranging from simple things like "playing tennis" (at the time we had not yet gone, after picking up rackets more than a year before) to more extensive plans like "seeing New York."
Well, I can proudly say that we have now completed 9 of these items (with 1 new item added) so we are over half way! The picture above is of our kayaking trip on Monterey bay - and yes, Elsa did actually make it onto the water. We had a wonderful time paddling between sea otters, dolphins, and harbor seals on a calm ocean.
Other notable tick-marks included visiting Mount Tamalpais (above) camping with Pierre and Angelique at Point Reyes this past weekend (photos below), going to the Cantor arts museum on campus, and visiting the California Academy of Sciences. A couple of longer trips are being contemplated. Watch this space...
